The reason we started using the self etching primer is that is
the winter temperatures in Nevada can be below freezing for days at a time, which makes the accomplishing the whole acid etch/wash/alodine/wash process (outside) almost impossible. We now use MEK as a final cleanup once we scotchbrite a surface, then just shoot it with the self etching primer. The self etching "spraycan" primer is nowhere near as durable as the epoxy, but for most applications, will be perfectly functional. One big advantage is the drying time for the NAPA primer is literally minutes as opposed to hours. |
